I do feel sometimes to create spectacularly unique delicious food, we should use our imagination more than stick to the textbooks. But of course without compromising the taste quality.
Maybe you are wondering why suddenly I mention that. Because it’s related with today’s food article that I will share with you all.
It is about a creative creation cake made by combining traditional cake named Kueh Lapis with Durian fruit (a.k.a King of Fruit) to become Kueh Lapis Durian.
Kueh Lapis Durian? Is it sound common? Wait wait wait…..yes Kueh Lapis Durian which ingredients are mixed with Durian is commonly sold. Instead of mixing ingredients with Durian, have you ever found Kueh Lapis with real Durian? They put a lot of Durian as a filling inside Kueh Lapis. For me, this is my first time seeing it. If you have seen it before, please forgive my ignorance (hehehe).
This Kueh Lapis Durian is a homemade cake by my sister’s coworker.
A little introduction of Kueh Lapis: it is a well known traditional cake for normal occasion and special occasion, especially during Chinese New Year periods to serve the guests who visit our place. The price of Kueh Lapis is also quite expensive.
By combining savoury rich buttery taste (sometimes too savoury for some people including me) of Kueh Lapis with unique sweet bitter addictive taste of Durian makes this Kueh Lapis taste not overwhelmingly savoury yet very delicious. It’s best to eat this cake when it’s cold.
I’m glad that I have an opportunity to try this delicate unique cake.
