Have you heard of Liao Fan Hawker Chan before? I truly believed most of you know this place.
In case if you have never heard before, let me do a little explanation about this place. Liao Fan Hawker Chan is a famous chicken rice place in Singapore that is awarded one Michelin star for their Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and received the titles of “The World First Hawker Michelin-starred meal” and “The Cheapest Michelin-starred Meal in the World” because the price was $2.00 in 2016.
Currently in Singapore, Liao Fan Hawker Chan has a few branches. One of them is located at Chinatown Smith Street. I visited this place two times for my lunch since my office location was quite accessible to Chinatown.
First time, I tried their famous Soya Sauce Chicken Rice with Pork Char Siew. Second times, I tried Pork Char Siew Rice with Roasted Pork.
Even though they praised Hawker Chan’s Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Roasted Pork, personally for me, the best among those three is Pork Char Siew. Hawker Chan’s Pork Char Siew is super tasty, has caramelized taste and melt in the mouth. It’s the best Pork Char Siew I have ever tried in Singapore. The second best is Roasted Pork and the last is Soya Sauce Chicken.
Maybe you are curious why Soya Sauce Chicken is the last. It’s because the taste is normal, they give a lot of bone and very less chicken meat. Honestly, I didn’t try this Soya Sauce Chicken in 2016 (I only tried recently). Perhaps the standard for this Soya Sauce Chicken has been dropped.
I am also wondering on how the order is $2 per meal. When I bought this Chicken Rice, the price was quite expensive compared to the normal chicken rice. Maybe the price of $2 was from 2016.
Overall for me, it’s worth to visit this place for their Pork Char Siew.
