When I was a teenager (during secondary school), I stayed at Kuching Malaysia for about one month. During that time, I tried Kuching cuisine. It was unique and very tasty. Among the Kuching cuisine that I tried, there was one fried snack that I really loved to eat. The name of this fried snack is Fried Radish Cake.
I still remember that I bought this fried Radish Cake from a small food stall beside one shopping centre. The seller fried this Radish Cake until very crispy and the seller always gave me the one that just finished fried so it was very crispy.
After that one month passed, I went back to my own country and until now I stay in Singapore, I still couldn’t find the same or at least similar Fried Radish Cake that I ate before in Kuching.
But recently, I found (finally) that has quite similar taste with the one that I had at Kuching. I am very happy when I finally can find the similar Radish Cake that I am looking for.
How did you finally found it? I found it via Instagram platform. The shop name is Caitoucake.
Caitoucake offers two different size of Hong Kong style of steamed Radish Cake: Big Caitoucake (1200g) and Small Caitoucake (650g).
This steamed Radish Cake is freshly steamed so you can directly eat this Radish Cake without cook / fry it. But if you like to fry it, you can cut this Radish Cake slice by slice and pan fried it. You also can use air fryer to fry this Radish Cake.
I try this Radish Cake with two different version: Pan fried, cook become Black Carrot Cake and White Carrot Cake (Yin and Yang).
Pan fried is the simplest method among these two version yet can produce more delicious taste coming after I pan fried it. It’s crispy outside and soft inside. I like this Pan Fried Carrot Cake the most.
Yin and Yang consists of combination of half Black Radish Cake and half White Radish Cake. I am using sweet black ketchup and egg to make this Black Radish Cake and only use egg to make this White Radish Cake. The taste for this Yin and Yang are also pretty good and yummy.
After tasting their Radish Cake, I know that Caitoucake is using very good ingredients to make this steamed Radish Cake. It’s very fresh, soft and super yummy.
I really recommend this Radish Cake. Believe me, it’s super yummy.
