Discover the Floating Bookstore & Café on the Doulos Hope Ship!
Looking for something unique to do this weekend? Head over to VivoCity and check out the Floating Bookstore & Café aboard the Doulos Hope ship.
This special event runs daily from 3 PM to 10 PM. But here’s a tip: in Singapore, it’s best to arrive early to beat the queue.
The Doulos Hope is a former cruise ship now serving as a floating library. It’s owned by the faith-based organization Operation Mobilisation and operated by the German charity Gute Bücher für Alle. The ship is currently based in Southeast Asia.
There are two ways to register for the event: advance booking or direct queueing. While advance booking gives priority access, it’s already closed. So, your best bet is to join the queue directly. Don’t worry, even without a reservation, my dear and I got in within 30 minutes.
Inside, you’ll find a wide selection of books and unique Doulos Hope merchandise. The book collection is quite fascinating, and you might even stumble upon some rare finds. We ended up buying a few books despite not being avid readers.
Prices are listed in units, with 100 units equaling $5, making it easy to calculate your total.
The café offers snacks, mineral water, and sparkling water.
The ship itself is stunning, providing beautiful views, especially at sunset. You might even catch fireworks at certain times.
This event runs only until July 28, 2024, so you’ve got just two days left. Don’t miss out—head over now!
