Today I will share with you one place in Jakarta that is selling delicious fried crunchy fish that I have been quite frequently eating with my family in Jakarta.
This place name is Ikan Nila Goreng Pak Ugi.
The owner of this Ikan Nila Goreng Pak Ugi is named Ugi and because he is in his middle age, we called him Pak Ugi.
Pak Ugi is a very dedicated and hardworking person. In the beginning, he and few of his staff were selling fried fish (mainly is Nila: Nile Tilapia in english) inside temporary tent in the street. They just simply put long sharing table and chair. It was kind of a street food.
Years after years, more and more people became regular customers until he managed to open quite big restaurant and had many staff.
Sounds cool right?
Other than delicious fried fish, the other thing that makes Ikan Nila Goreng Pak Ugi successful is their handmade chilli sauce.
Their handmade chilli sauce is addictive.
This time I tried Ikan Nila Goreng, Ikan Nila Bakar and steamed rice.
They gave free lalapan (Sundanese raw vegetables salad) and chilli sauce.
Ikan Nila Goreng (Fried Nile Tilapia fish) was quite big and very crunchy until you could eat the tails like crackers.
This fried fish was fresh and tasty.
Ikan Nila Bakar (Grilled Nile Tilapia fish) was also big and fat. Although this fish was not crunchy, but the dark brown sauce that they put before grilling absorbed the fish well especially after they grilled it. It was niceee.
Lalapan made this overall taste fresher and chilli sauce made an overall taste perfect.
Even though I couldn’t eat too spicy, but I would put an exception on this chilli 😂.
