Today I will share with you one hidden place around Chinatown area that I found recently which is selling upgraded version of Bak Chor Mee a.k.a minced meat noodles.
Are you curious of what is the name of this shop? It is JOFA Mee Pok. Jofa Mee Pok is located inside 3941 Cafe.
I mentioned the upgraded version of Bak Chor Mee because there is one menu named Premium Seafood Minced Meat Noodles that consists of a lot of varieties of seafood toppings and among these toppings, there is one piece quite big size of crispy shoft shell crab.
I ordered Premium Seafood Minced Meat Noodles for $13.50. Inside this bowl of mee pok has crispy shoft shell crab, fish roe, clams, scallops, prawn paste, mock abalone, fried fish stick, minced meat, pork slices, lard and egg.
They also generously put the sauce inside this dish, so the sauce ingredients can be mixed fully with the noodle and it becomes not very dry. Honestly, even though I didn’t order the soup, it doesn’t mean that I like noodle that is too dry. Yes, I prefer dry version but with a lot of sauce that makes the noodle a bit soggy and noodles absorb the sauce well.
The mee pok is tasty and crispy shoft shell crab is crunchy and not oily.
Other seafood toppings are also niceee and fish roe makes it perfect.
Overall I like this noodle….but….not with the environment (even though this place’s decoration is pretty old school which I like. It’s full of old chinese advertisements and actor & actress pictures).
Also, I saw many ants on the spoon and the tray. Because of that, I couldn’t enjoy eating it fully.
Hopefully their management look into this more deeply because it’s such a waste. No matter how delicious the food is, if not hygiene enough, it’s no use.
