While exploring the Tampines area, we stumbled upon a little gem in a cozy hawker center: Malaysia Traditional Nanyang Style! This unassuming stall is serving up a lineup of Malaysian classics that instantly caught our eye.
On the menu, you’ll find Asam Laksa (S$5), Penang Prawn Noodle Soup (S$5.50), Penang Prawn Noodle Dry (S$5.50), Ipoh Hor Fun Soup (S$4), Ipoh Hor Fun Dry (S$4), Mee Siam (S$4), and Mee Rebus (S$4). The best part? You get to choose your noodle! Whether you’re a fan of yellow noodles, bee hoon, rice vermicelli, or hor fun, there’s a perfect option for every craving. And if you don’t make a choice, no worries—yellow noodles it is!
Naturally, we went for the Penang Prawn Noodle Soup with yellow noodles, and it did not disappoint. Picture this: two plump prawns, tender pork slices, and fish cakes, all floating in a generous, steaming bowl of soup. The heat of the soup was no joke—it warmed us up in seconds! The taste was delicious, though we wouldn’t have minded a bit more of that shrimp essence for an extra punch.
The prawns were juicy, the pork was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and overall, we were pretty smitten with this bowl of Penang Prawn Noodle Soup. Give it a try if you’re in the area; it’s worth it!
