As a food hunter, I really need to thank you to social media because of them, my food dictionary is growing rapidly. I also noticed that enthusiastic foodies will never give up sharing good food that they found.
For example is today’s food review.
I was only aware about traditional Mochi (pronounce as Kue Muaci in Indonesia) hiddenly located inside Gedung Chandra (Chandra building – Pancoran Jakarta) recently even though this stall has already been there long time ago.
The funny thing was that Pancoran area was actually not a new area to me yet I didn’t know this food kiosk existed until I saw this Mochi Reel video. Really funny right? Yup and it’s happened to me 😂😂.
Ok, let’s not laugh until too long so I can end this review faster 😊.
The name of this food kiosk is Mochi Gloria Nam Yang. Mochi Gloria Nam Yang is actually selling few varieties of traditional cakes such as Kue Tiong Ciu Phia (Moon Cake), Kue San Jit, Kueh Muaci and few types of traditional cakes, canned meat and canned fruits. But it seems that the Nam Yang’s star cake is kueh Muaci (Mochi).
They filled in the fillings of this kueh Muaci right on the spot traditionally after I ordered. The moment I saw how they made it manually smooth using their hand, putting a super generous fillings inside each of Muaci and coating the Muaci skin with sesame seeds, my hungry adrenaline pumped up and luckily I could still hold my drool. Also be sure to have your phone ready to take video for the entire process.
You may choose either five or ten pieces of kueh Muaci and I chose five pieces.
These Muaci are fat enough to fit in my mouth and once I bite it, the peanuts fillings explode strongly inside my mouth. To be honest, eating one piece of this Muaci is equal to having a light breakfast.
I could taste a traditional old school taste on this Muaci and my dear also loves it.
What I can say is, this Muaci looks simple yet has a complicated delicious taste and texture when you chew it.
Hopefully Nam Yang will stay strong until very long future, so future generations can also experience it.
