Can I call myself a food hunter? Yessss, I can 😂.
As a curious food hunter and as an Indonesian that is aware of Indonesia being a big country with a lot of ethnic groups with their own outstanding cuisines, I do have a curiosity to introduce and try unique dishes that are native in their specific area around Indonesia.
So whenever my eyes caught food seller with their unique dish, I wished to try. Well, I was aware that I couldn’t achieve this curiosity if I only hunt in Jakarta. Because of that, my dear and I were trying to find a way to travel to other part of Indonesia that could be reached from Jakarta in few hours, mostly using train.
So here we are reporting about our food hunting finding named Pisang Panggang Santan Rang Bukit Tinggi at Cimahi area, to be exact it is located behind Cimahi Mall.
The owner of Pisang Panggang Santan Rang Bukit Tinggi told us that he is actually selling three types of banana cuisine: Pisang Panggang Santan, Pisang Bakar Cokelat Keju and Pisang Goreng Telur that natively from Bukit Tinggi area. But in that time, only Pisang Panggang Santan was available so we only ordered that.
For IDR10.000 (around SGD1), this Pisang Panggang Santan is way too affordable because it contains three whole pieces of grilled banana and one piece of biscuit.
The way that the owner made this dish was also super unique.
First, he put margarine all around banana skin and grilled those banana directly without peeling the banana from their skin. The grilled duration took quite long until the banana was grilled perfectly.
After that, he peeled up the banana from their skin and put chocolate flakes, shredded cheese, sweet biscuit and condensed milk on top of the banana. For the last step, he poured santan (a.k.a coconut milk) on this banana dish until this santan became a soup of this dish.
Let me tell you one thing, this Pisang Panggang Santan is very very delicious and all ingredients harmonically are blended very well in a good rhythm.
Also thanks to the seller’s patience on grilling the banana, this banana taste was pretty good and the texture itself was not very mushy because he was using the banana that wasn’t mushy after grilling.
Well, this was the first time we were trying Pisang Panggang Santan which was one of a delicate Bukit Tinggi cuisine.
