Today, I want to share with you a famous satay spot in Yogyakarta called Sate Pak Pong.
Sate Pak Pong is renowned for their Sate Klathak, a distinctive mutton satay skewered on long iron rods. The mutton is marinated with special ingredients, giving it a rich and flavorful taste.
A portion of Sate Klathak includes two skewers of satay, gulai gravy, and sweet soy sauce mixed with chili.
The location of Sate Pak Pong is advantageous for selling mutton. Situated near a mountainous area with a cold climate, the mutton helps warm our bodies after eating.
We tried one portion of Sate Klathak and one portion of Tengkleng. For drinks, we had hot orange juice and Wedang Uwuh.
The Sate Klathak has a unique taste that I quite enjoyed.
Tengkleng is a dish made of mutton ribs, bone marrow, and other mutton bones, cooked with special ingredients and sweet soy sauce. The meat in the Tengkleng was tender, and the gravy was delicious. I found myself craving steamed rice while eating it.
The hot orange drink was nice and not too sour.
Wedang Uwuh is a traditional herbal drink from Yogyakarta, and my dear really loved it.
Overall, we were pleased with our experience trying Sate Klathak. It’s definitely worth a visit, even if it requires a Grab car to get there.
