Let me take you on a delicious journey through Solo, where every bite is a discovery and every dish is a delight! So, hop in and let’s savor the flavors of Surakarta together!
Touching down at Solo airport, my Grab driver had a tasty surprise in store for my dear and me. Off we went to Selat Solo “Tenda Biru” to dive into the famed Selat Solo Daging—a unique blend of steak and salad, courtesy of Dutch culinary influence.
As I sliced into the tender beef steak, accompanied by crispy fried potatoes, vibrant veggies, and that mysterious dark brown sauce, I couldn’t help but marvel at the fusion of flavors dancing on my palate. Sweet, savory, and utterly satisfying!
But the culinary adventure didn’t stop there. Next up, Nasi Gudeg Paha—an intriguing mix of spicy and sweet. With a hearty chicken drumstick, succulent young jackfruit, and a generous dousing of sauce, each mouthful was a spicy-sweet symphony, punctuated by fiery chili slices.
And who could resist the allure of Es Gempol? Sticky rice, ice, brown sugar, and creamy coconut milk—it was a sweet and refreshing finale to our Solo feast, leaving us craving for more!
Hats off to our Grab driver for guiding us to these culinary gems! With every bite, we uncovered a piece of Solo’s culinary identity—a vibrant tapestry woven with tradition, flavor, and creativity.
So, here’s to Solo—the land of Selat Solo, Nasi Gudeg, and Es Gempol—a place where culinary adventures await around every corner. Until our next flavorful expedition, let’s keep exploring and savoring the delicious treasures of Solo!
