I recently went to NEX, passing by Chen’s Mapo Tofu and saw promo signboard for 20% take away promo for a la carte menu.
This is good news for me because without promo, I am reluctant to try it because I am not mala fans even though I am aware that Chen’s Mapo Tofu have gotten Michelin awards in 2019 & 2021.
Long story short, I got a bit traumatized eating mala because it made my tongue numb and couldn’t taste anything for quite long.
I order their recommendation menu: Mapo Don ($10.80 – before discount) for take away.
Mapo Don consists of Mapo Tofu with rice. If you prefer noodle instead of rice, you can order their Mapo Mien for $11.80.
They also offer three different spiciness level for Mapo Don and Mapo Mien: Level 1, 2 and 3.
I choose Level 1 to play safe 😬. Well, after eating this Mapo Don Level 1, I feel lucky that I choose level 1. I can enjoy their Mapo Tofu to the fullest because the mala taste is not so strong so my tongue is not numb.
This Mapo Tofu is yummy and considering “I don’t like mala spice but I can still enjoy it”l,” it means Chen’s Mapo Tofu create this dish successfully 😁.
Overall, Mapo Don is nice and I don’t mind eating it again in near future.
P.S.: I am not sure until when 20% take away promo will be ended and whether only on weekdays / weekends, so hopefully they still have the same promo when you all purchase it.
