Today I will review about Hakka Ampang Yong Tau Fu.
Have you ever tried Hakka Ampang Yong Tau Fu? For me, this is the first time I try it.
I tried this Hakka Ampang Yong Tau Fu at 928 Ampang Yong Tau Fu.
Just fyi, this place is very far from town area and currently not accessible by mrt. You can either take bus, taxi or drive a car.
Actually, I really really never plan to specially go to Upper Thomson Road to visit 928 Ampang Yong Tau Fu.
Me and my friend coincidentally stop at one of the bus stop along Upper Thomoson Road to look for dinner after going to Singapore Zoo.
After walking along the road and passing by a lot of shop, I was interested in one particular shop “928 Ampang Yong Tau Fu” because I saw people eating Kang Kong with sticky dark brown sauce.
It looked delicious, so without hesitation we decided to have dinner there.
We ordered a portion of Hakka Yong Tau Fu for two people, with one plain rice and one yam rice.
They had a lot of topping selections to choose for this Yong Tau Fu and I didn’t exactly recall which all toppings that we have ordered because we added quite a lot of different toppings. From what I remembered, we put Xiao Bai Cai, Fish Ball, Squid, Fried Toufu, Kang Kong, Eggplant and Tau Kee. We also put few types of fried food that we couldn’t remember the name.
The Yong Tau Fu portion is very generous. Even though we order for two people, but actually this portion can feed for up to three people.
The best way to eat this yong tau fu based on my version is: mix all the toppings with the sticky dark brown sauce. This sauce makes these toppings taste perfectly delicious.
The Xiao Bai Cai and Kang Kong are fresh. Tau Kee is very crispy even though it’s already soaked with the dark brown sauce. The owner said their Tau Kee is the most favourite one.
Other toppings are also blended nicely with the sauce. It’s yummy.
I prefer eating with yam rice. It’s tastier than white rice.
Overall I like this Hakka Ampang Yong Tau Fu.
