A few weeks ago, we went to the Bukit Gombak area to collect some plants for our beautiful garden, and somehow we found a lot of pop-up stalls selling Malay food and snacks.
These pop-up food stalls are located opposite Bukit Gombak MRT. It’s so near. You just need to cross the street from Bukit Gombak MRT station.
We were very excited when we saw those food stalls and bought three different dishes for our dinner because we were curious to try local Malay cuisine in Singapore.
We bought one package of Nasi Rendang, porridge, and Spicy Ikan Bilis with Petai.
The Nasi Rendang is pretty tasty. The beef rendang is quite tender. It also comes with sayur sambal goreng, perkedel, chili, and serunding kelapa.
The porridge that we bought is uniquely legit because the seller said this is a Malay version of porridge. This porridge has special toppings that I’ve never eaten with porridge before. It contains half-boiled salted duck egg, sambal kangkong, peanuts, and preserved sweet radish. It’s amazingly tasty.
Spicy Ikan Bilis with Petai is also delicious. It’s a very good dish to eat with rice.
We really loved these dishes. I guess I can only try these dishes again next year during Ramadan.
