Located on the outside store area of Chinatown Complex building, Cuisine Better Days Hainanese Chicken Rice is selling interesting concept of chicken rice that is using Kampung chicken.
I tried medium size of Traditional Kampung Chicken Rice ($7) and specifically requested for breast meat. Fyi, medium size is a normal size and other than that, they also have small size ($5), large size ($10) and x-large size ($14).
They also gave free iced lemon tea (for limited period of time) which I believed it was a homemade.
Traditional Kampung Chicken Rice consisted of classic of poached chicken drizzle with sesame oil, soy sauce and infused chicken broth fragrant rice pair with in-house chilli sauce, ginger jam and thick dark soy sauce.
I believed they were really using Kampong chicken because the colour of this chicken skin was yellow.
Honestly I was quite surprised because $7 chicken portion was quite little. I could not imagine how $5 looked like.
For the food taste wise, this rice was pretty similar like Indonesian dish: Nasi Tim Ayam. I could appreciate it since I am Indonesian.
This Kampung Chicken was tasty and quite tender. Fyi, Kampung Chicken is normally a bit hard to chew but this one is tender.
Overall I am quite satisfied with the chicken rice taste even though the chicken portion is just a little.
