Today I will share with you another famous unique Bogor cuisine that I believe you can only try it in Bogor.
This Bogor cuisine name is Ngo Hiang. I tried this Ngo Hiang from Ngo Hiang Asli Gg Aut Khas Bogor.
[reader] I thought Ngo Hiang can be found everywhere outside Bogor area?
[me] Yes, you are correct. Ngo Hiang can be found everywhere outside Bogor, even in Singapore. But this Ngo Hiang Asli Gg Aut Khas Bogor‘s Ngo Hiang is different with normal Ngo Hiang.
Let me tell you the difference. This Ngo Hiang shape is bigger than the usual Ngo Hiang and the meat inside is thicker. This Ngo Hiang is also coated with batter / white egg before they fry it so the texture becomes crispier.
The other differences is that they pour this Ngo Hiang with thick gravy that is made from peanuts. This thick gravy has sweet taste. They also put achar and chilli inside this dish.
This time I ordered Ngo Hiang Polos. Ngo Hiang Polos consists of two pieces of Ngo Hiang. It’s very suitable portion because I eat this with my dear.
This Ngo Hiang is crispy outside and the meat portion inside is super a lot and very thick. It’s also tasty.
But, I feel a bit weird with the thick gravy taste (anyway, it’s still acceptable for me) because it has sweet taste so it’s like eating sweet cake mixed with Ngo Hiang.
To be fair and objective, perhaps because this is the first time I tried this type of Ngo Hiang so maybe I was not used to it. I also saw so many good reviews about this Ngo Hiang on internet 😀.
Overall I still can appreciate this Ngo Hiang but for me, I prefer to eat it without the sauce in future.
