Roti Buaya and Cream Horn at Delicious Cake & Bakery Jakarta

Hi all, today I will introduce you to one of Indonesian traditional bread named Roti Buaya that I bought at Delicious Cake & Bakery (Jakarta).

A little introduction about Delicious Cake & Bakery and Roti Buaya.

Delicious Cake & Bakery is one of the legendary bread shop in Jakarta that has been existed from long time ago. 

My dear introduced me to this bread shop because she knew that I would like to go to this kind of place 😊.

Roti Buaya is a sweetened bread in the shape of crocodile which is commonly used as a present in the traditional Betawi wedding ceremonies.

Why they made this bread as a crocodile shape? I thought sometimes people use the term “crocodile (land crocodile)” language to describe men who are dualistic, neglectful and even placed their partners.

Nope, you are totally wrong because in fact, the real (animal) male crocodile is loyal to their partner for the rest of their life. 

Other than loyal to their partner, Roti Buaya also has a meaning of masculinity, very strong and patience.

Anyway, nowadays it’s quite hard to find this Roti Buaya seller. But luckily I found Roti Buaya statue display in front of Delicious Cake & Bakery.

So due to curiosity, I asked them whether they were really selling Roti Buaya or not and the answer was yes, but I needed to wait one day to collect the Roti Buaya.

Without thinking twice, I ordered one medium size of Roti Buaya (IDR 100.000 around SGD10). 

So here I am with medium size of Roti Buaya. Surprisingly this Roti Buaya is very huge and very long. It’s bigger than my dear and my expectation and I have to hold the Roti Buaya box using my two hands😂.

This Roti Buaya’s taste was also nice (a little bit sweet) even though there was no fillings at all.

I also bought few other types of bread & snacks and I had specifically one old school snack that I also wanted to show you named Cream Horn (IDR 10.500). 

This Cream Horn was sweet and nice.

Overall I was very happy that I managed to find Roti Buaya.
