As an Indonesian, if my Indonesian friend asked me about food recommendation along Orchard area, I would definitely tell them to try either Ice Cream Wafer or Ice Cream Bread from Uncle Chieng Traditional & Wafer Ice-Creme.
Located permanently outside Ngee Ann City Shopping Centre, Uncle Chieng Traditional & Wafer Ice-Creme is using motorcycle ice cream cart to sell ice creams.
Uncle Chieng’s Ice Cream Wafer or Ice Cream Bread is sooooooo famous and actually already becomes a legend in Singapore’s ice cream history.
Why do I say so? It’s because these ice cream is so famous, especially among tourists. Even, when I queue to get this ice cream, almost all the people join the queue are Indonesian tourist because I recognize them from their language.
Uncle Chieng offers few different flavours of ice cream and you can choose to put the ice cream into wafer, bread or cup.
I ordered Tutti Fruity Bread because of the interesting colourful colour that Tutti Fruity ice cream has. It really matches with rainbow loaf bread that they use.
This Tutti Fruity Bread is yummy and will make you chill and feel refreshing during super hot weather that we face recently.
Fyi, Uncle Chieng has been selling these ice cream since 1965 around Tanglin and Chinatown area and from 1993 at outside Ngee Ann City Shopping Centre until now.
I really recommend you to try these ice cream at least once if you are in Singapore 😉.
