Mandu….I like it so much.
Recently I watched South Korean reality cooking show named 4 Wheeled Restaurant Season 3. The story was about famous Korean chef presented Korean food on various countries. One famous Korean cheff with four Korean actors started a food truck and wanted to see whether their Korean food cooking were accepted in the origin country as if it was from Korea.
In this season 3, they opened up a food truck in the US. During 2-3 days after the opening, they kept selling Mandu because the famous Korean chef was very famous for his Mandu. Their customer responses were superb.
Yes, mandu was very delicious (the chef and four actors were all agreed on this), but…. the process of making it was really exhausting. They had to make it a whole night and very tiring. The last time the chef told them to make Mandu, I could see all the four actors face expressions were really shocked and sad. Hahaha, quite funny.
Speaking of mandu, do you actually know what is Mandu? Mandu is a Korean dumpling that can be steamed, boiled, pan-fried or deep-fried.
While watching this reality cooking show, I kept craving to eat Mandu and sometimes swallowed my own saliva without knowing it. Hehehe.
Luckily my sister wanted to try to make Mandu (it sounded like heaven in my ear).
She bought Mandu skin and made the filling from the scratch. She wrapped the Mandu herself and did pan-fried only the bottom of Mandu skin. After a while, she steamed the Mandu (for the upper layer and to make the filling cooked).
Once ready, you could taste crispiness on the bottom of the skin, softenes of the upper layer skin and the sweetness of the meat filling. It was delicious.
Fyi: this was her first attempt to make Mandu. Not bad right?
