Hi all, yesterday evening was my lucky day because I coincidentally met Mr. Akira Takahashi “the cool uncle that paints umbrellas while singing using makeshift karaoke system” in the Chinatown area.
Honestly at that time I don’t know that uncle is famous. I just thought his painting is super cool and I never saw painting umbrellas performance before, so I took his performance video and some pictures using my cell phone.
He was kindly supporting me by giving thumbs up while recording and he was purposely singing quite loud when he saw me recording it. I really thought he would be angry when I recorded him 😂.
I was curious whether he was selling those umbrellas or not but I didn’t have courages to ask because I thought he was busy busking.
After that, I reached home and googled about him. I was shocked that uncle Akira Takahashi is actually famous and a retired art director.
He has been painting umbrellas on the streets since 2021 and he prefer not to share his busking performance location publicly because he worries it would draw crowds.
So, I was indeed a lucky guy. But too bad, I didn’t take pictures using my camera, so hopefully you can still enjoy my pictures and video featuring him.
