I recently found one old school looking Japanese restaurant named Romankan Yokohama while exploring Millenia Walk.
From the restaurant appearance, you will definitely be able to differentiate between this restaurant and other restaurants nearby because of their retro decorations.
Because of my curiosity, I visited this place and noticed that Romankan Yokohama is famous for their katsu.
So without hesitation, I ordered Katsu Curry Teisyoku.
Katsu Curry Teisyoku ($18) contains fried pork loin cutlets with an original curry sauce, rice and salad.
They serve the salad with yuzu sauce and lime. So I suggest you to have this salad right after finishing the fried pork loin cutlet because it would be too sour if you have this salad before hand and at the same time it will help to soothe and activate your digest system.
Fried pork loin cutlets comes with fried wedges and broccoli.
The rice shape that they served caught my eyes because it’s pretty similar like a rugby ball shape.
I also heard they keep smashing the meat. I do believe it’s to tenderize the meat. Such a hard effort to do that. No wonder their fried pork loin cutlet is amazing and crunchy. I can also feel the pork loin texture in every chew.
The curry sauce is also tasty and the curry thickness is also alright. It will be not good if the curry sauce is too watery. Because of that, I pour half of the curry sauce on top of chicken and another half on top of rice right before eating it.
Overall I really like this old school fried pork loin cutlet. Perhaps I could try another dish next time.
