Today I would share with you Nasi Uduk that I recently tried at Nasi Uduk & Kuning WGP (Jakarta).
Fyi, Nasi Uduk is an Indonesian version of nasi lemak. The rice is made using coconut milk and this nasi uduk is more fragrant than nasi lemak.
Normally this nasi uduk by default comes with fried rice vermicelli, dark brown tempeh cubes and crackers. So if they don’t give you those toppings, you can request to add those because nasi uduk without those toppings is not 100% authentic nasi uduk.
Other than those toppings, they still have a lot of toppings that normally I can choose from. At that time since I went there quite late, they only had few toppings left: tempeh fritters, tahu bacem (braised tofu simmered with coconut water, palm sugar and spices) and spicy fried boiled egg.
Without thinking twice, I also requested them to add those and put some chili.
So here I am with hearty nasi uduk and a lot of toppings to satisfy my nasi uduk cravings.
This nasi uduk is very delicious. The tempeh fritters is crispy enough, tahu bacem is soft and fried boiled egg is a little bit spicy.
Mixing all of them together to create a very delicious taste that I couldn’t find in Singapore is so satisfying.
I am really happy eating this nasi uduk.
