Today I will share with you about one Chinese food restaurant named Restoran Trio that has been operating since 1947 in Jakarta until now.
Can you imagine how they could survive strongly until now? The thing was that food prices in this restaurant were average yet most of the time this restaurant would be crowded with people craving to eat their cuisine.
One authentic icon about this restaurant was the green colour painted all over outside of this building.
On the inside, the decoration would bring you traveling to the past and even I heard that their cuisine taste was also pretty old school.
Because of that, I was very curious and asked my dear to have our lunch there and because I was aware of the crowd, we purposely visited on weekday afternoon around 3:00 PM.
We ordered Soup Asparagus Telur Kepiting (IDR135.000 around SGD13.5), Lumpia Udang ala Trio (IDR105.000 around SGD10.5), Bistik Haas Panggang (IDR125.000 around SGD12.5), Gurame Goreng Saos Asam Manis (IDR135.000 around SGD13.5), Baby Kailan Cah Polos (IDR30.000 around SGD3) and steamed rice.
Soup Asparagus Telur Kepiting (a.k.a. Asparagus soup with Crab Roe) looked like they put abundant crab roe into this soup. It was tasty.
Lumpia Udang ala Trio (a.k.a Trio version of Shrimp Spring Roll) was not a crispy version of normal spring roll. It was more similar like Ngo Hiang but with shrimp fillings. This Lumpia Udang was truly recommended to order.
Bistik Haas Panggang (a.k.a Grilled Beef Steak) was indeed an Indonesian version of an old school beef steak. Although the steak was a bit hard, it was still delicious.
Gurame Goreng Saos Asam Manis (a.k.a. Battered Fried Gourami with Sweet and Sour Sauce) was the star of the day. It was crispy yet not oily and the fish flesh was sweet & thick. It was really delicious.
Baby Kailan Cah Polos was also nice because they put tasty sauce on this vegetable.
The portion wise for each dishes was very huge.
Overall we were really satisfied trying Restoran Trio cuisine. Now I know why Restoran Trio still survive strongly until now.
