Semesta by Remboelan

Whenever I went to Jakarta, most of the time my dear and I were looking for a nice Indonesian cuisine and this time we landed at Semesta by Remboelan restaurant.

Semesta has a slogan “Indonesian Soulfood,” so it means they are confident that their dishes are tasty authentic Indonesian cuisines from all over Indonesia.

Because of that, we believe that Semesta will serve us delicious authentic Indonesian cuisine that we never try before.

We tried Nasi Bakul Telor Asin Krakatau (IDR65.000 around SGD6.5), Semur Jengkol Betawi Pondok Labu (IDR35.000 around SGD3.5), Ayam Krispi Saus Mangga Muda Midodari (IDR62.000 around SGD6.2) and Ayam Raos Kota Parahyangan (IDR59.000 around SGD5.9).

For the drink, we tried Wedang Semesta (IDR29.000 around SGD2.9), Bir Pletok (IDR29.000 around SGD2.9) and Teh Poci Jawa (IDR39.000 around SGD3.9).

Nasi Bakul Telor Asin Krakatau consists of Semesta’s special herbs rice, topped with shallots, garlic, salted egg, stink beans and salted fish.

This Nasi Bakul Telor Asin Krakatau appearance looked very appealing and traditional. Although they put two rounded salted egg, these salted egg were not that salty and it was really delicious when we mixed these salted egg with the rice. They were also generous with the fried shallots so we could eat with the fried shallots in every spoon.

Semur Jengkol Betawi Pondok Labu is a Betawi style slow cooked Jengkol dish. I really liked this Semur Jengkol. I believed other than Indonesian, you all never tried Jengkol before. It’s yummy, so if you are visiting Jakarta, be sure to try Jengkol.

Ayam Krispi Saus Mangga Muda Midodari is a deep fried chicken fillet, topped with shredded mango, radish pickles and house sweet and sour special sauce. Deep fried chicken fillet was crispy enough. The shredded mango and special sauce made this dish taste refreshing.

Ayam Raos Kota Parahyangan is a deep fried chicken fillet with house special sweet and savory “raos” sauce. This Ayam Raos Kota Parahyangan was also delicious and this chicken fillet was as crispy as Ayam Krispi Saus Mangga Muda Midodari.

We also liked all the drinks. Wedang Semesta and Bir Pletok would  make your body warm.

Although from the name “Bir Pletok” has beer wording, this drink has 0% alcohol.

Overall I really recommend you all to try Indonesian cuisine at Semesta by Remboelan restaurant.
