Chinatown Complex Food Centre is a “quite frequent place” for me to have lunch during weekdays other than Geylang Bahru Market and Food Centre.
Chinatown Complex Food Centre is known as “the largest hawker centre” in Singapore with more than 260 food stalls. Amazing, right? Could you imagine, with so many food stalls in one place, how would you choose on what to eat?
Some of you will choose randomly based on the longest queue (might be the most favourite place) or browse the internet to look for the most recommended stall before deciding on what to eat (I’m belong to this group most of the time).
After browsing the internet, I find out that Zhong Guo La Mian Xiao Long Bao is a must try. But, it’s quite challenging when you want to order the food from this stall especially if you are in a rushed.
Most of the time, this food stall has long queue (I have been trying my luck two times on different days and I always failed to try because queue was too long).
Luckily on the third time, the queue was not long, so I managed to order (maybe it was my lucky day. Hehehe).
I ordered Steamed Mini Buns (Xiao Long Bao) and La Mian with Fried Bean Sauce.
Xiao Long Bao is the recommended dish in here. One portion comes with 10 pieces of Xiao Long Bao. A little advise when you order this, you must eat it while it’s still hot to get the best flavour. It’s delicious and the gelatinized broth inside the Xiao Long Bao is quite a lot.
La Mian with Fried Bean Sauce is also not bad. If you are still hungry after eating Xiao Long Bao, you may consider to try this. The taste has a quite strong distinctive Fried Bean Sauce flavor, but i can still accept it.
Fyi, Zhong Guo La Mian Xiao Long Bao is one of the Michelin recommendation.
