Recently, there is one new Korean restaurant open at Waterway Point named Ajumma’s.
Located beside Monster Curry restaurant, Ajumma’s has wide range of Korean cuisine to choose.
As I am curious to try the original Korean Jjajangmyeon taste without visiting Korea 😬 and because Jjajangmyeon is one of their recommended dishes, I order Jjajangmyeon from Ajumma’s.
Jjajangmyeon ($11.90) contains chunks of pork which fried with fermented black bean paste and slathered over handmade noodles.
Other than Jjajangmyeon, they also give me four side dishes (corn, yellow pickled radish, seasoned seaweed and kimchi) even though I don’t request it. Fyi, this is a good standards of Korean restaurants that they serve free side dishes and you can request to add side dishes again with no limit but please do order responsibly by finishing it before requesting it again.
Jjajangmyeon is very tasty. At first few bite, I feel this Jjajangmyeon sauce taste is a bit bitter. But after that, slowly the delicious taste rise out and blow my mind.
The pork portion is also a lot. It’s tasted yummy and tender (but you can still feel meat texture when you chew it). The amazing thing with this pork is that the meat has similar taste and texture like beef.
The side dishes are also fresh and nice.
My way to eat this Jjajangmyeon is mix everything inside the bowl and left a bit of Jjajangmyeon black sauce on the side. You will be able to do it since they give a lot of sauce.
After 3/4 portion of Jjajangmyeon is done, I request another side dishes, put all the side dishes inside Jjajangmyeon bowl and mix it with remaining black sauce, the noodles and pork. It will create a new yummy flavour and I believe you will like it the same like I do.
Overall I am really pleased with Ajumma’s Jjajangmyeon. You should try it.
