Every year during Deepavali month to celebrate Deepavali Festival, they always have interesting activities and Festival Village. In case if you are wondering what Festival Village is, it’s like a bazaar.
Located at Little india (nearest MRT is Little India MRT and you have to go to exit C), you can find a lot of bright and colourful ornaments to hang inside your house / room / office, colourful flower ornaments and various delicious Indian cookies on this Festival Village.
At first I really have no idea on why almost all the sellers are selling bright and colourful ornaments (this is the first time I visit Deepavali Festival Village). When I research about Deepavali, I finally understand the reason. It’s because Deepavali is a Festival of Lights.
Fyi, Deepavali (27 October 2019) is the Hindu Festival of Lights which is celebrated every autumn in the northern hemisphere. It symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.
As a photographer, I love to take pictures. Sometimes I unintentionally took picture of people’s face and they told me to remove the picture from my camera. But it was different in this Festival village and it was really surprising. When the seller saw me taking picture, either they purposely asked me to take picture of their face or they directly posed like a model. They were very friendly even though I didn’t buy anything.
Hope you enjoy seeing my photoshoot as I am enjoying taking pictures on Deepavali Festival.
Last but not least, Happy Deepavali for all people who celebrate it.
