Today I will share with you one old school looking Chinese restaurant that is located inside Seletar Aerospace Park named Di Wei Teochew.
Based on the restaurant appearance, it seems that Di Wei Teochew restaurant is already been there since a long time ago, perhaps before I was born.
This restaurant has only one floor wide in the landed house, which is rare to find in Singapore.
The visitors are from few generations back to back, meaning from grandparents, parents, children and grandchildren on same table. Perhaps last time the grandparents love to eat here and they bring their children and so on.
But this is just my guessing because I don’t know from when this restaurant was started 😬.
From the restaurant name, I believe Di Wei Teochew dishes are mostly Teochew version.
Me and my friend coincidentally found Di Wei Teochew restaurant while exploring Seletar Aerospace area.
Since this area is not easily accessible by mrt (only few public buses will go to this area), so we don’t want to miss this chance to try Di Wei Teochew restaurant dishes.
So here we are on outdoor area of Di Wei Teochew restaurant ordering the food.
We ordered medium size of Teochew Fried Rice Noodle with Preserved Radish ($12), medium size of Braised Duck and Bean Curd ($15), small size Claypot Bean Curd ($13) and small size of Braised Pork with Gravy ($12).
For the drink, we ordered Chinese Tea.
Teochew Fried Rice Noodle with Preserved Radish is a fried kway teow mixed with preserved radish, egg and slices of shallots. It’s simply yummy.
Braised Duck and Bean Curd is a boneless duck meat with slices of steamed bean curd and mixed with dark chocolate colour gravy (I guess it’s soya sauce). This duck meat is a bit dry and dark chocolate colour gravy taste is a bit bland so it can’t make this steamed bean curd tasty.
Claypot Bean Curd consists of meat, shrimp, squid, mushroom, carrot, green paprika and sticky gravy served in hot temperature inside claypot. It’s delicious and they are generous with this toppings.
Braised Pork with Gravy is tasty and the meat is tender although it isn’t melting inside my mouth.
Overall, I am happy to try these dishes and you need to be patient if you come here as the serving time is quite slow especially if it’s very crowded.
