In Chinese old tradition, we have a culture to eat noodles on our birthday. Old people said by eating noodles on birthday, we will have a long life. Why noodles? It’s because noodles have a long shape 😀.
So last week on my birthday, my auntie treated me 3 pax of DIY Bakmie Ayam Jamur (Chicken Mushroom Noodle) from Mamilani Home Cook Singapore.
Other than noodles, I also got Pre-Braised Kalasan Chicken and Dried Shrimp Potato Chips.
Fyi, Mamilani Home Cook Singapore is selling Indonesian food that is based in Singapore.
What is DIY Bakmie Ayam Jamur? Do you need to cook it yourself? Yup, it’s half true. You need to cook the noodle, heat the Bakso (Meatball), Soup and Ayam Jamur (Chicken & Mushroom). They already provide all the ingredients. So after that, you need to mix the noodles with the ingredients yourself and put the toppings: Meatball, Chicken, Mushroom and Pangsit Goreng (Fried Wanton).
How does the noodle taste? It’s similar like Bakmie Ayam Jamur in Indonesia. It’s yummy and the fried wanton is crispy. But one thing for sure, because we are not professional in cooking Bakmie, so the noodle texture is a bit different compare with the professional (Bakmie seller) make.
For Pre-Braised Kalasan Chicken, you also need to fry it yourself. There are two options for frying method, it’s either pan fry or deep fry. I deep fried it.
This Kalasan Chicken is vey fragrant and yummy. The Chicken itself is also big.
They also provide one pax of Chilli to eat with this Kalasan Chicken. For spicy lovers, you must eat this chicken with the chilli.
Dried Shrimp Potato Chips is also delicious. I like this. It’s tasty, crispy and not oily. You can eat this with rice or without rice. For Indonesian, we normally eat this with rice.
[reader] I am curious to try but don’t know how to cook the noodle and fry the chicken.
[me] Don’t worry, you can open Mamilani Home Cook Singapore Instagram to see the instructions on how to cook the noodle and fry the chicken.
