As a fan of Korean Drama : Reply 1988, I was always looking forward to their eating time scene and I noticed on how banana was expensive and precious for them in that era.
But other than banana, did you notice that there was another food appeared in some scene? Yes, it was a Bungeo-ppang a.k.a Taiyaki.
Fyi, Bungeo-ppang is a fish shaped pastry stuffed with sweetened red bean paste which is originated from the Japanese Taiyaki.
Because of that, I was craving for Bungeo-ppang and run as fast as I could to Takashimaya Orchard to buy taiyaki from Mr. Obanyaki Taiyaki Japanese Pancakes .
Although there is nothing special about Mr. Obanyaki in terms of decoration in a small space, this stall has been survived quite long until now inside Takashimaya Orchard. Most of the time, their queue is also quite long.
Mr Obanyaki Taiyaki Japanese Pancakes is selling two kind of food: Obanyaki and Taiyaki, but believe me, most people are buying their Taiyaki.
They have four different fillings of Taiyaki that you can choose: Red Bean, Chocolate, Cheese and Custard.
Each flavour price is $2.
Although Bungeo-ppang is stuffed with red bean, I order their Custard Taiyaki because custard is my favourite filling.
Well, to be honest I don’t know whether Bungeo-ppang has slightly different taste compared to Taiyaki or not, but it’s visually similar to me so I assume it’s the same 😊.
Mr. Obanyaki Taiyaki Japanese Pancakes’s Taiyaki is nice and it’s best to eat while it’s still hot.
Hopefully you will also like their Taiyaki and let me end this article so I can continue watching Reply 1988 while eating Taiyaki.
