What is your memorable food in Singapore? For me it’s chicken rice from Xiang Ji Chicken Rice.
This chicken rice was sooo memorable for me because this was the chicken rice that I definitely had for my weekend breakfast without failed when I stayed nearby there (Eunos area around nine years back).
The rice was sooo fragrant and the black sauce taste was sooo nice when it was mixed with this chicken rice.
Even last time I recommended this Xiang Ji Chicken Rice stall on one of Channel 8 food program when they asked me to join to become one of the guest jury as a food blogger (using my previous blog that has not been active now). But too bad because Xiang Ji Chicken Rice was too famous back then so they asked me to recommend another one and I recommended Sarawak kolo mee stall. I also didn’t join that show because I was too shy and couldn’t speak Chinese 😂.
Ok, enough sharing about my past history and let’s get back to the review.
After so long I have never visited this place (because now I stay in Punggol), I went to Xiang Ji Chicken Rice again and ordered their chicken rice with extra char siew.
I also had special request to pour black sauce on top of this chicken rice.
I was a bit shocked when ordering the chicken rice because all of the staff and owner of Xiang Ji Chicken Rice face didn’t change at all even after around nine years. OMG, what were they eating for not growing old 😂.
Honestly this rice taste was a bit bland compared with last time and the chicken portion became lesser. Luckily the black sauce taste was still the same and eating this chicken rice with black sauce was really nice.
Inside Xiang Ji Chicken Rice’s chicken rice had so many beautiful memories about my early journey staying at Singapore, so I was really happy eating this chicken rice again.
