Happy Sunday to all my fabulous readers. Today I am happy to share with you the latest good news about Pasar Malam in Singapore that is happening near Yishun MRT station from now on until 16 July 2023.
I feel blessed and happy to find this Yishun Pasar Malam because normally I hardly have ever gone to Yishun MRT because it’s too far from my place.
But because of a family event, I passed by Yishun area yesterday and saw Pasar Malam.
Fyi, this ongoing Pasar Malam name is Yishun MRT Food Fair.
Honestly, although this Pasar Malam space looks very huge, it appears overall food stalls and games stalls only take half of the total space.
Perhaps because most of the tenants will only join next week onwards since this Pasar Malam has just started two days ago (16 June 2023). Or maybe the other half space is meant to set tables for people enjoying the food that they buy.
There are quite a lot of food varieties to try, such as Arabica Kebab, Ramly Burger, Thai Milk Tea, Pure Sugar Cane Drink, Sweet Potato Balls, Twist Potato, Famous Vadai Uncle, Japanese Takoyaki, few kinds of fritters and skewers, Rojak Skewers Lok Lok Style, Supreme Thai Cuisine and many more.
Actually Rojak Skewers Lok Lok Style quite caught my attention, but my mind was immediately distracted with Durian Great Sale inside this Pasar Malam because most of people were eating durian in the empty space.
At the same time, I also wanted to experience eating durian outside as I was normally eating durian at home.
So I visited durian stall, joined the queue and decided to buy small size durian named Sultan King (Bentong) that costed $10 per one whole durian. They said this Sultan King (Bentong) has a bitter sweet taste.
I bought $20 and the seller was kindly enough to give me three whole durian that he put inside the big red basket.
Before I start to tell you the taste, please don’t put expectation that these durian taste are similar like Mao Shan Wang because you will not get Mao Shan Wang at this price.
The first durian that I opened really had bitter sweet taste. The flesh was quite thick but not creamy. The seed was also quite big.
The second durian was not bitter and the third durian was a bit creamy & sweet.
I do believe many factors that make the last two durian taste different from what they described: bitter sweet. Perhaps because it was not ripe enough or other factors.
But overall with $20, I could get satisfaction eating these durian at Pasar Malam and my tummy felt very full.
So what are you waiting for? Run to Yishun Pasar Malam today.
