As I grew up, I love to watch Doraemon on TV every Sunday morning.
I am also curious as to why Doraemon love to eat Dorayaki so much since I have never tried it before.
Luckily last week, I accidentally found out one new shop selling Dorayaki near Hougang MRT.
I initially thought this shop name is Dorayaki but when I ask the lady inside the shop, she said the name is Thousand Deli Bakery. So in short explanation, Thousand Deli Bakery is a bakery shop that is selling breads, waffle, egg tart and many more. So recently, they expand it on to the next door shop to open Dorayaki shop.
This Dorayaki shop is selling Dorayaki with five different toppings: Japanese Red Bean, Caramel Kaya, Crunchy Peanut, Blueberry and Truffle Chocolate.
Fyi, this shop never lists down the Dorayaki price so please ask first how much clearly as I read some online comments about negative reviews due to the seller mistakenly giving the price.
When I purchased the Dorayaki, there was a promotion of buy six Dorayaki for $8. Without promotion, each Dorayaki price is $1.60.
Because of that promo, I bought six Dorayaki (one Japanese Red Bean, two Caramel Kaya, one Crunchy Peanut, one Blueberry and one Truffle Chocolate).
Again, I need to mention this to you so you would not be mislead with the menu name because I was misunderstood 😂. I believe they don’t put Truffle on the Chocolate because I don’t taste any Truffle and seems that there is no Caramel in the Kaya flavour 😂.
But despite of those “funny points that I pointed earlier”, I can honestly say these Dorayaki are yummy and I don’t mind buying it again.
So let’s start the taste review of each misleading flavours 😛.
Japanese Red Bean is suitable for people that don’t like sweet flavours because it’s not sweet at all but it’s nice. The good thing is because of that, I believe they are using real red bean as the fillings (even though I don’t have any idea whether they are using Japanese red bean or not 😬).
Caramel Kaya is sweet and yummy. As I mention earlier, I don’t think there is caramel inside this Dorayaki.
Crunchy Peanut is reflected with name “crunchy”. It’s indeed crunchy but not sweet at all (they don’t put sugar I guess 😂). Same as Japanese Red Bean, this is very suitable for people who couldn’t eat sweet things. But the taste wise is yummy.
Blueberry is a bit sweet and nice. Well, for this one, they are absolutely using Blueberry jam so I don’t have anything to comment about this.
Truffle Chocolate is the one that make me misleading 😂. I really thought they put Truffle but it seems not. The taste wise, this Chocolate is super yummy so I can forgive them with the Truffle thing 😂.
So here is my top favourite flavour (from the top to bottom): Truffle Chocolate, Caramel Kaya, Blueberry, Crunchy Peanut and Japanese Red Bean.
Overall I like all the flavours. You just need to ask the price first before you purchase it 😀.
